In case you didn't know, I now have a scheduled upload day on YouTube; Thursday! I'm so happy  with how its going and feel very grateful for the enthusiastic response I've received. Despite that, my blog's been feeling a little neglected lately, and I wanted to start doing a little series that I thought would be quick, simple and fun - but also relatively time efficient for me to photograph and create. So, in-between outfit photos I thought I'd start doing mini posts on my current makeup favourites. I LOVE reading beauty reviews and recommendations from other bloggers, but sometimes (mine included) they can be so lengthy that I just don't have the time to wade through the text. This way,  as well as my style blog posts, you can check out what I've been wearing on my face in a bite-sized fashion!

Eyeliner: a delightful surprise, this liquid liner has been my go-to. So much so, it's almost run out. It's black as the night and stays in place all day long.

Lipstick: despite the slightly odd shaped tube, this lipstick is incredibly pigmented and doesn't need a great many touch ups throughout the day. Probably one of my top 3 reds.

Eyeshadow: the perfect soft pink, ideal for everyday wear. It evens the tone of my lids and creates the loveliest subtle sheen, only really visible if the light hits it in a particular way which is exactly what I wanted. The tiny packaging, mirror included, means it's super duper easy to travel with!

Brush: Tom Ford unbelievably soft brushes have absolutely stolen my heart. Due to their very high price point, it almost pains me to use them. However, every time I do, the result is flawless.

Blush: The above is a Bobbi Brown blush palette. I can always count on Bobbi Brown when I'm feeling in the mood for an easily blendable and bright pop of cheek colour, but don't fancy looking like a clown. Bobbi Brown somehow always manages to get this right; bright colours that complement a variety of skin tones without looking garish.

Bobbi Brown - My Everyday Eyeshadow Duo

Bobbi Brown Matte Eyeshadow in Ivory: here. | Bobbi Brown Shimmer Wash Eyeshadow in Champagne: here.

I'm by no means an expert when it comes to all things (or any things..) 'beauty' related. I can do one look; the one on my face. So, when I find something new to add to my very standard makeup repertoire, I feel compelled to share it with you. So, whilst wasting some time in Selfridges recently, I wondered into the Bobbi Brown section. I always find make up counter ladies, as friendly as they usually are, slightly intimidating.

'Their makeup is flawless..' I think.
'I haven't had my eyebrows done in 3 months and my contour game isn't even anywhere close to being on fleek. THEY WILL JUDGE ME' I tell myself.

However, I'd been having an internal conversation with myself about how I don't really make enough effort with my makeup. Yes, I wear lashes daily because I find them so easy to apply, but I don't wear any form of eyeshadow. Almost ever. These seemed like an unbalanced set of priorities. So I decided to talk myself into appealing for their help. I basically approached a lady and asked 'pls can u help me with the eyeshadowz?' I was promptly perched onto one of those stools that are ever so slightly too high so your legs dangle awkwardly in the air like a toddler about to have their first haircut. I wanted something that was subtle - something that you couldn't necessarily notice until you get close up.  I won't bore you with the details, but the extremely helpful assistant and I settled on this 'everyday appropriate' colour combination. A shimmery champagne to wash over the lids and an ivory matte colour to highlight the brow bone and add dimension. Even though it isn't hugely noticeable - which is exactly what I wanted, it's the perfect amount of product and colour to just add a little something extra. Basically when I wear eyeshadow I feel like my life is super fab and I am so in control. I havent become one of those people who wears flawless eyeshadow everyday, but I'm working on it.

How about you? Do you wear eyeshadow everyday? What are your favourite everyday colours?

Spring Beauty - Dior Kingdom of Colours - House of Greens

You can find this exact palette at Debenhams here, and other shade variations here and here.

Ello.

The other day I was pondering over the difference between blogs and instagram. Besides the obvious; you scroll through your feed on Instagram and pass the pretty pictures, double tapping as you go, but a blog is something you have to actively seek out. Because of this, I often feel like a blog deserves more effort and more time spent over the content. As someone who reads beauty blogs frequently, I notice that the writers often create posts in which they're simply saying; 'hey, this is a new and nice thing.' Not a review or a tutorial, just sharing the product. Personally, I really enjoy that style of post. It's a style that's simple, informative and quick to read - as quite frankly, who has time to endlessly browse the new-in beauty section of the Debenhams website? In a sense, it's pretty similar to an Instagram post, and that's what I like about it. It's a quick fix of prettiness along with the essential bits of information about the item; a sort of Instagram and blog post hybrid.

Essentially what I'm trying to say is that I'm planning to start doing those - I want to be able to create fun, quick little posts more frequently. Gosh. Sorry, that took a while to explain. Rather ironic as I just explained that I like these posts for being quick and easy to read.

_ _ _

Every spring, I like to pick up a new item or two to spruce up my collection. Not an extreme overhaul - I'm not enough of a makeup experimenter to justify buying more than a few bits and bobs. So here, as a little injection of colour, I'm showing you the House of Greens palette from Dior's Kingdom Of Colours collection. First of all, and entirely irrelevant to the product itself, I love the palette names. House of Greens; rather Game of Thrones-esque, don't you think?
Dior released two different palettes; House of Greens and House of Pinks; with both palettes featuring a mixture of shimmer and matte shades, all differing in pigmentation strength (and what palette would be complete without those little pointless, sponge applicators that none of us actually use?). I've linked a few different shades of Dior palettes above and below for you to take a look at if you'd like to.

Do you pick up any new makeup with the changing seasons? If you have any recommendations, I'd love to hear them!
