Pale Blue Trench: Cool-Toned Hues for Spring

Spring is officially here, and so I thought I would welcome the new season by creating an all blue-hued, fresh looking outfit. Spring for me, conjures images of blue skies and blooming flowers - blue is certainly a spring colour, but this more frosty, cool toned blue I thought would be acceptable for the current weather situation; COLD. I paired this pale blue trench with my blue lens Miu Miu's and silver Chanel earrings with blue stones. I wanted to continue the cool toned theme so my silver Saint Laurent bag seemed the perfect choice!

I particularly love the rough, unfinished edges of the trench and the black contrasting details; I think it's a perfect 'throw on and go' piece - it looks quite slouchy and 'chill' whilst also appearing structured and put-together. I think it's a really interesting piece and different to anything I already own. It's light and oversized enough to allow for layering underneath, but also the cool blue hue means this will still look spring-approriate when the milder weather finally arrives. I can't wait to mix it up with the rest of my wardrobe!

A quick outfit tonight - with this look, I'm bidding goodbye to the last of summer style, until next year that is. I probably look a little weather confused seeing as it's October. I call this look 'denial'. 

I've become very fond of this lace, off the shoulder top - it's quite an unusual colour and not one I can quite pinpoint. I'm calling it 'grey-blue' - what do you think? I really enjoyed wearing this combination; the soft, pastel and white clothes with the slightly harsh contrast of the bag. I think they set each other off in a rather nice way!

A super quick outfit post today; I was recently invited to The National Portrait Gallery for a private blogger viewing of the new Audrey Hepburn 'Portraits of an Icon' exhibition, followed by an obligatory trip to Laduree for sweet treats and one of their perfectly-sized cappuccinos (I then went for afternoon tea with Radley to celebrate the release of their 'Hepburn' bag collection - very fitting, but more on that in a later post!) If you're someone who's interested in fashion, film or of course just the lady herself, I'd absolutely urge you to go and take a look. Many of the photographs were sourced directly from Audrey's family and have never before been seen by the public or used in the media, and range from behind the scenes shots of her acting, images of her early training as a ballerina (her size 7 ballet shoes are displayed in a case!) and even her later charity work. I'm aware it sounds rather silly, but I sort of forget that she had long and rich life either side of the iconic Audrey that we all see in our minds when we think of her. I've never before imagined her as a child or a mature woman, and it was truly fascinating to see.

Hello internet friends.
Scrolling back through my last few posts, it's occurred to me that I've been wearing a hell of a lot of black and white recently. It's not even a decision that I've been actively making. I think when I consider whether or not to purchase an item, I ask myself 'how useful will this be?' and 'how many things can this be paired with?' - I suppose with more colourful pieces, the answer is usually; no, it isn't really that versatile. I find in the winter it's a lot easier to just throw a red coat, for example, over a monochrome outfit, whereas in the summer months I'll look at a bright red skirt and see it as too much of a risky commitment. How often would I wear a bright red skirt in comparison to how often I'd wear a black skirt, which'll go with everything. Do you get what I'm saying? I'm rambling on a bit I know. Perhaps I'm becoming boring and predictable. Maybe I should make a resolution to add more colour to my summer wardrobe! 
I'm a big fan of mixing prints in subtle ways, so I really liked the contrast of the vertical stripes with the criss-cross pattern on the skirt's organza panelling. I just think it makes what would've been a rather simple outfit more unique. A few people even told me they liked my dress - I then had to point out they were two separate pieces, and felt ever so slightly smug that I'd sort of 'fooled' people into thinking my two-piece looked so 'meant to be' that it got away with being a dress. The room I was having drinks in was quite dark when people made this observation though... I'll still take the compliment. 
Do you find yourself consistently wearing a certain style because it feels 'safe'? As always, I'd love to hear!

I have a purely monochrome, entirely Topshop ensemble to share with you today. I acquired the 'Ghillie' shoes (we've discussed these in previous posts), ivory belted trousers and boucle 'Harrington' jacket all at the same time, but with no intention of wearing them together. Upon my arrival home I immediately hung my new pieces on the front of my wardrobe and realised that they'd actually go rather nicely together (in my humble opinion). So, it was quite the happy accident. Not only that, what with the ivory trousers being, well, ivory... they go with several different pieces; colourful, patterned, almost anything - a truly versatile piece. Obviously the only downside of white clothing is that it shows every mark. Although I did get a good three or four wears out of these before I spilled a big splodge of coffee on the thigh. Such is life. 

Do you wear white clothing, or can you not trust yourself with the monumental responsibility? I'd love to know!
