Flute Sleeve Dress with Embroidered Collar - Why Clothing Size Doesn't Matter

Dress: here. (Alternative here) | Earrings: Dior (alternative here) Lip Colour: here.

- - -
I'm fairly certain I owned an almost identical dress aged 4. In fact, I regularly see little people clothes and wish they came in my size (or seriously wondered if I could squeeze myself into 'age 11-12' - answer: lol no.) So when I saw this insanely adorable little piece I ordered it in a frantic, mad excitement. It makes me feel like a 4 year old milkmaid and that is absolutely fine with me. Every detail is exquisite; from the intricately embroidered cut-out collar and bib to the flute sleeves, complete with little bows.

A little heads up; this comes up rather small. I find that the fit of Dahlia's clothes to lean more towards teeny-tiny bird-like creatures, which I am not. (I once ordered a pinafore dress from them which literally did not even cover my entire bum..) Their clothes come in sizes Small, Medium and Large -  I'm 5'9 and generally a size 10 in dresses, and I'm wearing a Large. I hate to admit that initially, a small part of me didn't like the fact that I was wearing a size Large, but then the more prominent, more reasonable side of my brain took over and I reiterated to myself what I've often told other people; the label in an item of clothing literally does not matter. I cannot stress it enough. I know people use the word literally so often these days that it's almost lost all meaning, but it literally doesn't matter. The cut/measurements of clothing varies hugely from store to store. As long as it fits and it looks good, no one knows what size you're wearing and more importantly, no one actually cares. (And of course, it goes without saying but I'll say it anyway - a larger size does not necessarily equate to 'less attractive'.)

What do you think? Do you care what the labels in your clothes say?

Pink Floral Jacquard Dress with V-Back / Chandelier Earrings

Hello all!
If you don't like pink, shield your eyes...
The v-back on this Dahlia dress is such a pretty, thoughtful detail, and I'm so happy that more and more brands are cottoning on to the fact that there are lots of girls who like backless dresses, but who also don't like going braless... and as I've mentioned before, I'm one of them. When I was originally styling this dress I put it with some bright, cobalt blue shoes to try and add some different colours, then I thought maybe sticking with plain black accessories would be more traditional and safe - but as you can see, in the end I decided that the only sensible decision was to just wear all of the pinkest things I own at once, with some clashing red lips (is pinkest a real word?).

Lace Detail Blouse / Velvet-Band Fedora / Jewelled Pendant

Hello all!
So... I'm back... again. Please forgive me for my prolonged absence! I've had a massively hectic - but wonderfully fun week - which included me acquiring a vast amount of photos from London Fashion Week, which I can't wait to share with you all.
Before that though, I'd like to introduce you to my newest Dahlia piece - this beautiful blouse with delicate contrasting lace shoulders/décolletage. I find it to be a perfect combination of simple and striking - meaning it's still 'enough' for me to wear it alone, but also goes wonderfully with several of my more statement jewellery pieces (which you know I love!).

Jewelled Collar / Embellished Pencil Skirt - Obligatory Snow Post!

Hello all!
I'm currently trapped inside due to the heavy snow and feeling like a caged animal. Unable to get to work or even leave the house in any sensible capacity (walking the poodle parade in the snow doesn't count.) I feel that perhaps I'm becoming an ill-tempered old grump, as this is the first year that the prospect (and consequent arrival) of snow has not excited me in the least.
The only thing I can say for it, is that it makes for quite atmospheric pictures, but only when it's more of a romantic sprinkling than a blizzard. So, I thought I'd make the most of my house-boundedness by photographing this beautiful Dahlia shirt with it's jewelled, icicle-esque collar detail whilst the snow was still falling (and before it turns into horrible grey slush!)

Dahlia Tapestry Dress / Gothic Heart Necklace

Hello all!
Today, I am utterly delighted (and have also been spending far too much time watching Downton Abbey) to share this beautiful Dahlia Tapestry dress with you. I was so excited to receive it after having had my eye on a tapestry piece for a good while, and I can truthfully say it was worth the wait. This dress fits perfectly and the quality really is second to none; it's definitely something I can see myself being able to 'dress up or down' (I hate that expression!) I'd happily wear this during the day (with a very warm coat of course, I am not mad!) but to photograph such a lovely dress hidden under a coat would be a great shame, hence why I braved the cold! My November is set to be ridiculously busy, so I'm definitely planning on wearing this dress out to a few events!
